Albers & Associates

About the Company
Albers & Associates is a law firm that positions itself as a personal and professional development organization. Its legal team handles criminal defense, family law, and personal injury cases while focusing on exceptional client service.
A key growth strategy for the firm has been acquiring other practices. By integrating smaller firms where attorneys want to focus on law rather than management, Albers & Associates provides resources and a shared vision for mutual success. The firm's ambitious goal is to grow into a $150 million enterprise with offices nationwide.
Currently, the firm has a team of seven attorneys and operates multiple offices across Maryland, catering to diverse legal needs while aiming for expansion through strategic partnerships and acquisitions.
Idea Behind Company
The idea for Albers & Associates emerged from a pivotal moment in Ross Albers’ life when he lost his job two weeks before his wedding. Determined to start his own firm despite initial challenges, Albers drew inspiration from his wife’s family history in law and their support.
The firm began with a clear mission: to focus on personal and professional development alongside legal excellence. Albers believed in building a business that would outlast him by emphasizing collaboration, innovation, and strategic growth, including acquiring smaller firms to expand capabilities and reach.
Over six years, the practice grew from a solo operation to a multi-location firm. Albers credits the journey to his willingness to adapt and learn, particularly through strategic hiring and creating valuable partnerships.
Creating the Company
The firm began with traditional approaches to criminal defense work, such as panel assignments from the Public Defender’s Office. Early on, Albers sought to expand into personal injury law by building relationships with chiropractors who referred cases. This strategy marked a turning point in the firm's growth.
As business picked up, hiring additional staff became essential. Albers brought on a legal assistant to handle administrative tasks, allowing him to focus on acquiring clients and managing relationships. Each new hire enabled further growth, eventually leading Albers to step away from courtroom duties to focus on business ownership and leadership.
By prioritizing client acquisition, relationship-building, and operational efficiency, Albers laid the foundation for the firm’s sustainable expansion and success.
Launching the Business
Launching Albers & Associates involved minimal resources but a significant amount of effort. Albers set up a website, obtained malpractice insurance, and managed administrative tasks using Google Drive. The firm’s early advertising relied on personal savings and treasury bonds, which were invested in professional marketing services.
Client acquisition strategies included pay-per-click campaigns, leveraging online reviews, and networking with other attorneys for referrals. Albers also emphasized the importance of hiring an accountant early to streamline finances and avoid costly mistakes.
As the business grew, Albers transitioned from managing operations solo to outsourcing administrative and advertising functions, allowing him to focus on leadership and long-term strategy.
Earnings
Albers & Associates now generates $150K/month, a testament to its growth-driven approach. Online reviews and word-of-mouth referrals remain central to client acquisition. The firm also uses tools like Clio for case management and CallRail for tracking the performance of marketing campaigns.
Mergers and acquisitions are a cornerstone of future growth. By acquiring smaller practices, Albers aims to double revenues while creating opportunities for attorneys to focus on their clients. The firm reinvests profits into hiring, advertising, and operational improvements to fuel expansion.
Looking ahead, the firm envisions scaling into a national enterprise, employing thousands of professionals, and continuing to set new benchmarks in the legal industry.
