Jordhy Ledesma, an immigrant frequently adjusting to new environments, felt alienated in unfamiliar cities. This inspired the concept of customizable billboard ads that could display tailored messages aligned with a user’s preferences and cultural background. Ledesma envisioned a platform where billboards could meet individual needs and become tools for personal connection in any city. This idea matured into Bitfari—a platform that connects users, ad spaces, and advertisers in a seamless system while utilizing blockchain to foster both transparency and accessibility. After a successful prototype, Ledesma realized the business potential and began to expand his idea, eventually focusing on cryptocurrency as a central component.
Creating the Company
Building Bitfari required a long period of iteration and testing. Ledesma initially faced challenges with prototypes, refining his product until it met consumer needs. Leveraging design thinking and support from mentors, he launched the app in beta, originally called Tellfari. Early success at business school fairs led to more funding and access to resources, which allowed for further expansion of his concept. Ledesma’s entrepreneurial journey was marked by continuous learning and a determination to grow Bitfari into a competitive, global platform. His research into other entrepreneurs, like Bill Gates, inspired him to adopt a bold, ambitious approach to scaling Bitfari.
Launching the Business
Ledesma’s road to launching Bitfari was marked by both opportunity and challenge. An initial offer of funding didn’t materialize, but he continued building the project, ultimately incorporating cryptocurrency in 2016. In 2021, Bitfari formally launched with a series of strategic tools including a logo, website, and whitepapers. The company was self-funded initially, requiring Ledesma to invest his own savings to get it off the ground. Bitfari later started crowd sales of the Fari Token to support its operations. Although not yet listed on major exchanges, the token began trading on smaller platforms with a promising daily volume.
