Idea Behind Company
Ana’s inspiration for starting ByRecruiters came from her experience as a corporate recruiter and career coach. Creating the Company
After realizing the demand for functional resume templates, Ana spent six weeks designing 20 initial products. She focused on creating simple, professional templates that would be compatible with applicant tracking systems (ATS) used by companies. Feedback from recruiters helped refine her designs, and she launched her Etsy shop in July 2018 with minimal investment—just $4 to post her first batch of templates. Ana also created a website and started offering additional services like resume reviews and interview preparation.
Launching the Business
Ana chose Etsy as her primary platform for its ease of use and low upfront costs. Her initial investment in creating the resume templates was minimal, and she made her first sale within a month. Although it took nearly a year to start seeing regular sales, Ana’s Etsy shop now serves as a lead generator for her website, where she offers additional services. Marketing through free channels like Pinterest and Instagram helped build traffic to her shop, with Pinterest driving over 36.5K visits. She also experimented with paid ads, finding Etsy ads most effective.
Earnings
ByRecruiters has been profitable from the start, with monthly earnings ranging from $1,500 to $4,000. In 2021, the business had a gross margin of 60-70%, with most of its revenue coming from Etsy sales. Ana's bestselling resume template has earned over $11K since 2020. Moving forward, she plans to expand her offerings, create a coaching program for job seekers, and help other entrepreneurs start their own digital product businesses, all while continuing to grow her brand and improve marketing strategies.
