About the Company
FVA Business Consultancy is a company that provides virtual assistant training and services. Its mission is to equip freelancers, empower marketers, and enable businesses through a combination of online and offline services. FVA's offerings include training programs, consultancy, workshops, and remote work solutions. The company also has a franchising model with 16 coaches assigned in various territories, both in the Philippines and internationally. Co-founded by Julmar Grace Locsin and her husband Jay Locsin, FVA has trained over 25,000 students worldwide and is aiming to expand its influence globally. The company employs a team of 14 people who work together to fulfill FVA’s mission of empowering individuals through freelancing.
Idea Behind Company
The idea for FVA originated from Julmar and her husband’s personal experience transitioning from traditional office jobs to freelancing. After facing initial struggles, including a lack of resources like a computer and internet connection, they discovered the freedom and benefits of freelancing. Motivated by their own positive transformation, they wanted to help others, particularly Filipino families, achieve similar success. FVA was designed to provide an accessible and sustainable career path for individuals who wanted to work from home, especially those who couldn’t attend college or were struggling with long commutes. The company’s goal is to help people earn an income from the comfort of their own homes, while offering support and community through training and mentorship.
Creating the Company
FVA was launched in 2016, after Julmar and her husband saved enough money from their freelancing careers to fund the business. They started small, with a clear mission of helping at least one freelancer from every household. Their approach to creating FVA was based on their own experiences as freelancers, combined with strategic planning, brainstorming, and learning from books and podcasts. Over time, they expanded their offerings to include a wide range of courses, from basic freelancing skills to specialized marketing and digital presence training. They also introduced an apprenticeship program to give students hands-on experience with real clients. FVA’s online academy grew quickly, and within a year, they began offering franchising opportunities to trainers and coaches.
Launching the Business
The initial launch of FVA was modest, relying on the savings Julmar and her husband had accumulated from their freelancing jobs. They started with a small number of students, focusing on providing value through quality courses and hands-on support. Over time, the company’s growth was driven by a combination of word-of-mouth, strategic online marketing, and a strong community-oriented approach. FVA’s digital presence played a crucial role in attracting new students. They utilized SEO, social media advertising (especially on Facebook), and organic marketing to reach a larger audience. The company also regularly held promotions and giveaways, further engaging with their community. Today, FVA attracts over 500 students per month, up from just 20 in its early days.
Earnings
FVA generates revenue through its online training courses, consulting services, and franchising opportunities. Initially, Julmar did not consider FVA to be just a business for profit, but a mission to help as many freelancers as possible. However, the company has become profitable through strategic planning, focusing on student-centered services, and expanding its reach. FVA’s diverse revenue streams include course sales, apprenticeships, and income from its growing franchise model. Looking ahead, FVA aims to compete on a global scale by targeting business owners and marketers, in addition to freelancers. With plans to restructure the company and enhance its organizational strategies, FVA is positioning itself to become a leading global online academy for freelancing and virtual assistant training.
Julmar’s journey with FVA has taught her the importance of having a positive mindset and staying committed to the mission. She believes that many entrepreneurs fail because they give up too soon, and that optimism and perseverance are essential for long-term success. FVA’s success has been built on understanding the needs of students and providing them with valuable, actionable content. The company’s success stories, shared regularly on its social media platforms, highlight the real-life impact FVA has had on people’s lives. Looking forward, Julmar and her team are focused on expanding globally, restructuring their operations, and continuing to innovate in the training space. By remaining student-focused and adaptable, FVA is positioning itself for sustained growth and impact.
