MindTastik

About the Company
MindTastik is a meditation app created to help users tackle daily mental health challenges, self-improve, and enhance their well-being. Launched in March 2019, the app differentiates itself by offering longer, in-depth meditations with mindfulness tasks and follow-up activities to help users achieve deeper results. Alongside MindTastik, the founders developed smaller niche apps targeting specific issues like pregnancy, quitting smoking, and fear of flying, using the same core meditation techniques. The company prides itself on offering high-quality, problem-oriented meditations while maintaining affordability.
The founders, Milena and Teo, have also ensured that their products are accessible by designing them for iOS and Android platforms. The company continues to expand its offerings, catering to a wide audience, including children, teens, and adults. MindTastik has become a valuable resource for users seeking personal development, and it remains one of the most affordable meditation apps available.
Idea Behind Company
Milena’s inspiration for the app began with her own experience of feeling overwhelmed in her corporate job. She discovered meditation through a Facebook ad, tried it skeptically, and was amazed by the positive results. Meditation helped her uncover hidden aspects of her subconscious, resolve long-standing issues like self-sabotage, and improve her well-being. Realizing its transformative power, she began regularly using meditation and soon thought of creating an app for this practice.
The idea to build MindTastik came from Milena’s belief that, with everyone owning smartphones, it would be more convenient to access meditations via an app. She partnered with her friend Teo, who shared her interest in psychology and was looking for online business ventures to invest in. The duo recognized that many competing apps offered only short meditations, which Milena believed were insufficient for deep self-discovery and growth. They aimed to differentiate by providing longer, more effective meditation sessions.
Creating the Company
The early stages of MindTastik’s development involved finding the right people to bring the app to life. Milena and Teo hired a licensed hypnotherapist from the U.S. to record the first batch of 100 meditations. Although they lacked technical expertise, they outsourced app development to an Indian team after trial and error with various developers. The first version of the app cost $10,000 to build and was initially launched on iOS.
The founders kept refining the app based on user feedback and their personal vision for the product. They learned crucial aspects of the app business, such as App Store Optimization (ASO) and customer engagement, and constantly updated the product to ensure stability and performance. This learning process helped them create a working version of MindTastik that aligned with their goal of offering deep, transformative meditation experiences.
Launching the Business
Launching MindTastik wasn’t as straightforward as the founders anticipated. They initially believed that once the app was live, downloads and revenue would follow naturally. However, the reality was different, with only a small number of downloads and few paying customers in the early stages. The team struggled with ineffective SEO strategies and low visibility, which forced them to learn more about ASO and optimize the app’s store presence.
After hiring a Fiverr Pro user to manage the ASO, Milena began better understanding the process and started testing different keywords, screenshots, and other app elements. Through trial and error, they improved their app’s discoverability, resulting in gradual growth. The team also created mini-apps based on the same meditation architecture, such as Hypnobirthing and Stop Smoking, which generated revenue to support MindTastik’s development.
Earnings
Today, MindTastik and its related niche apps generate about $35,000 per month in revenue. The bulk of this income comes from in-app purchases on both iOS and Android platforms. The company has invested in both organic growth and paid advertising strategies, balancing between app store optimization and digital ads. Organic traffic now contributes significantly to the app's success, and MindTastik has been featured in several major media outlets.
The company is profitable but continues to aim for wider adoption. Milena and Teo plan to expand their meditation offerings and eventually seek investment to scale further. With ongoing SEO efforts and weekly meditation content updates, MindTastik is set for continued growth in the wellness app market.
