Our captions

About the Company
OurCaptions was a platform designed to provide users with captions and quotes for social media, particularly Instagram. Siddharth’s love for quotes, sparked in childhood, became the foundation of this business. His platform catered primarily to young audiences, regularly updated with captions on trending topics, current affairs, and lifestyle themes. With the aim of becoming a hub for social media captions, the website emphasized creativity and originality, garnering significant monthly traffic from organic searches.
Siddharth’s journey was driven by a passion for writing and a belief that captions should reflect thoughts and feelings around everyday moments. By providing relevant, engaging, and unique captions, OurCaptions was able to stand out in the crowded digital space. Though the website initially struggled with traffic, Siddharth's persistence in optimizing articles for search engines ultimately paid off, making it a popular destination for users looking for caption ideas.
Idea Behind Company
Siddharth’s interest in quotes started at a young age, inspired by his father’s teachings. This hobby of collecting and sharing quotes grew over time, eventually becoming a regular activity with friends and in his school’s magazine. In college, Siddharth developed a love for coding, which led him to study website design. His exposure to affiliate marketing and website creation during a course at the National Institute of Information Technology (NIIT) helped him identify a niche for caption-sharing platforms.
Initially, Siddharth created an Amazon affiliate site, but he soon pivoted toward a passion project—building a website dedicated to social media captions. After some experimentation, he decided to focus on creating a centralized platform where users could find unique and relevant captions, something he felt was missing from existing online content.
Creating the Company
Once Siddharth had the idea for a caption-focused website, he set about designing and launching his platform. The first version of the website, named "bestinstagramstatus.com," didn’t appeal to him after some time, leading to its rebranding as "OurCaptions." With minimal resources and relying solely on his own skills and determination, Siddharth built the site on WordPress.
The initial growth was slow, with articles gaining little traction. However, persistence in SEO and content optimization gradually paid off, as traffic began to increase. To support the content production, Siddharth brought in experienced writers to keep up with the demand for fresh, trendy topics. Over time, the website grew to host over a hundred articles on a wide range of themes, ensuring it could cater to various user needs.
Launching the Business
In 2019, Siddharth officially launched OurCaptions after months of preparation and content creation. Without any formal training in marketing, Siddharth relied on YouTube tutorials to guide him through the process of launching and promoting his site. Early efforts were met with limited success, but Siddharth’s strategy of consistency, patience, and organic growth eventually saw his first article—Car Instagram Captions—rank on the first page of Google after six months.
From there, the business took off, with other articles quickly following suit and achieving top rankings. Siddharth managed to grow the website’s traffic purely through organic means, avoiding paid advertising or backlink strategies. His success came from carefully optimizing content for search engines and tapping into popular keywords with low competition.
Earnings
At its peak, OurCaptions was drawing over 200,000 visitors monthly, generating revenue of approximately $1,000 per month. Despite these impressive metrics, the business was eventually shut down in 2024. Although Siddharth did not detail the reasons for the closure, the company’s five-year journey showcased the importance of patience, consistency, and content quality in building an online presence.
Throughout the venture, Siddharth emphasized organic growth and SEO-driven content, ensuring that his articles reached a wide audience without heavy investments in marketing. The business also benefited from an expanding social media presence, particularly on platforms like Pinterest, which contributed to growing engagement.
