Pyotam

About the Company
Pyotam is a pioneering company in India that specializes in Ayurvedic alkaline water, combining traditional Ayurvedic elements with water purification technologies. Founded by Naveen Kumar, an environmentalist and water conservationist, Pyotam's vision revolves around providing clean drinking water while improving the health of its consumers. The company emphasizes sustainable manufacturing processes, reducing water and energy waste in production.
Pyotam's flagship products are copper-powered alkaline water and Panch Tulsi alkaline water, both formulated with Ayurvedic herbs. The water has a pH level of 8.5, aiding in detoxification, acid neutralization, and promoting overall health. Their products are designed to help with issues like weight loss, bone strength, and heart health, offering a natural, healthier alternative to regular drinking water.
What sets Pyotam apart is its environmental commitment. With patented technology, they ensure zero water waste during production and reduce energy consumption by 50-60%, minimizing their carbon footprint.
Idea Behind Company
The idea for Pyotam emerged from Naveen Kumar’s previous experience in water technology, specifically reverse osmosis systems. During his earlier venture, he realized that most filtered water ended up being slightly acidic, which could have harmful long-term effects on health. This led him to explore alkaline water as a healthier option.
Naveen recognized that many people unknowingly consume acidic water, which can cause digestive issues and other health problems. To address this, he aimed to develop a product that would neutralize acidity and promote overall well-being. Ayurveda, with its holistic approach to health, was a natural fit for this solution. He combined alkaline water technology with Ayurvedic ingredients like copper and tulsi to create a product that not only hydrates but also enhances health.
Naveen's entrepreneurial mindset and drive to solve a widespread problem were key factors in Pyotam’s inception. He believed in the market potential of Ayurvedic alkaline water and worked diligently to refine the concept.
Creating the Company
To bring his idea to life, Naveen received support from incubators at AIC-JKLU, Jaipur, and ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad. Through their guidance, he was able to refine the product design and target audience. The product development phase involved extensive research and experimentation, taking around three months to perfect.
Initially, Pyotam distributed product samples to friends and family to gather feedback. This helped Naveen identify a target audience that included fitness enthusiasts and individuals with specific health concerns like acidity, diabetes, and cancer. The company adopted a direct-to-consumer (D2C) model, taking advantage of eCommerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart to reach more customers during the pandemic.
With the design finalized, Naveen and his team focused on the manufacturing process. He used his expertise to ensure that the production was efficient, sustainable, and compliant with industry standards. The company raised around $30,000 from angel investors, which enabled them to set up manufacturing and start the sales process.
Launching the Business
Pyotam officially launched its Ayurvedic alkaline water in June 2021, starting with an eCommerce strategy. The company built a user-friendly website using Zoho Commerce and promoted the products through various digital channels like YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. They used web scraping tools to optimize search engine results, ensuring the product reached relevant customers.
Despite a small marketing budget, the company gained traction through organic growth and positive customer feedback. Many initial sales came from word-of-mouth recommendations. Pyotam's online presence on major platforms like Amazon and Flipkart helped grow the brand’s visibility. They carefully curated product descriptions and focused on search engine optimization to boost online searches.
Over time, the company saw steady sales, with around 30% of customers being repeat buyers. By focusing on maintaining a high-quality product and fostering good relationships with consumers, Pyotam was able to grow its customer base without significant advertising spend.
Earnings
Since its launch, Pyotam has grown to generate an average of $13K per month in revenue. The company has sold over 1,400 bottles and attracted around 250 loyal customers, many of whom return regularly for repeat purchases. Currently, 40% of sales come from Amazon, 20% from Flipkart, and 40% through the company's website.
Pyotam’s primary focus moving forward is to scale the business by expanding its digital presence and increasing marketing efforts. The company aims to enter retail markets by the end of the year, starting in northern India. Naveen is also working on expanding the product range to include new Ayurvedic-infused beverages.
By building a trusted brand and maintaining strong customer relationships, Pyotam is positioned to continue growing and help more consumers incorporate Ayurvedic alkaline water into their daily routines.
