About the Company

Silviano specializes in high-end leather accessories, particularly the Silviano Sleeve, which integrates smart features into a luxury laptop folio. The company benefits from its vertically integrated supply chain, allowing for direct-to-consumer pricing and superior quality control. With a background in finance and fashion, the founders blend their expertise to bridge the gap between luxury craftsmanship and modern tech.

Silviano operates with a small but efficient team of four employees. Their family’s deep-rooted experience in the leather industry allows them to manufacture their products in-house, eliminating middlemen and ensuring affordability without compromising quality. The company’s mission is to provide consumers with premium leather goods at competitive prices.

Their first major success was the Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, which proved the market demand for their innovative product. By combining traditional Italian leather techniques with modern functionality, Silviano quickly established itself as a leader in smart luxury accessories.

Idea Behind Company

The Malhotra siblings grew up learning the intricacies of the leather business from their father and grandfather. With backgrounds in finance and luxury brand management, they recognized a market gap for luxury leather goods tailored for tech users.

They envisioned a product that merged luxury aesthetics with smart functionality, catering to professionals who needed both style and utility. Their goal was to create a product that was not only beautiful but also practical, addressing the modern consumer’s need for convenience.

By manufacturing the product in-house, they aimed to provide high-end craftsmanship at a fraction of traditional luxury prices. This approach ensured that customers received a premium product without the excessive markups typically found in luxury brands.

Creating the Company

The idea for the Silviano Sleeve first emerged in 2017, and the development process took several years. The team worked with skilled craftsmen to translate their vision into reality, utilizing premium vegetable-tanned leather and an intricate hand-painting process known as Tamponata.

Challenges arose in integrating smart technology while maintaining a sleek and elegant design. They wanted the sleeve to be more than just a carrying case, incorporating wireless charging and global tracking features without compromising aesthetics.

After extensive research and prototyping, they perfected the leather finish and functionality. By late 2019, the final design was ready, and marketing activities began in early 2020 to prepare for the crowdfunding launch.

Launching the Business

Silviano’s Indiegogo campaign launched on October 13, 2020, and reached its funding goal in under three hours. The campaign was strategically planned, leveraging extensive market research, audience targeting, and promotional discounts.

Unlike many crowdfunding projects, Silviano launched with a fully developed product rather than just a prototype. This built trust with potential backers, ensuring them that the product was ready for production and delivery.

A key factor in their success was transparency and direct communication with customers. The founders personally responded to inquiries and adjusted their strategy based on audience feedback. Early-bird discounts also incentivized customers to invest quickly.

Earnings

Silviano currently generates around $20,000 in monthly revenue. The crowdfunding campaign not only secured initial sales but also validated the market demand for their product, enabling them to scale production.

Following the campaign, the company moved to direct online sales through their website and other multi-brand platforms. Plans are in place to expand the product line, including a new collection of luxury bags.

By maintaining a vertically integrated business model, Silviano keeps costs low while ensuring high product quality. Future growth strategies include targeted digital marketing, influencer collaborations, and strategic partnerships to expand their customer base.
