Translit

About the Company
TRANSLIT, based in Limerick, Ireland, began as a language services agency and evolved into a tech-driven platform offering translation, interpreting, and localization services across 120+ languages. The company’s core mission is to break language barriers and foster understanding. TRANSLIT has handled over 20 million words and 30,000 interpreting hours for diverse clients, including government bodies and businesses. With its ISO certifications and innovative SaaS offerings like TRANSLIT RSI (Remote Simultaneous Interpreting), the company aims to become a global leader in interpreting services.
Idea Behind Company
Alex Chernenko’s passion for languages and technology inspired TRANSLIT. With expertise in computer engineering and fluency in six languages, Alex combined these skills to create a language service business. The name "TRANSLIT" reflects this fusion of translation and IT. After facing setbacks in employment and entrepreneurial ventures, Alex realized the potential of TRANSLIT during a period of reflection. Motivated by personal and professional growth, he committed to scaling the business to address inefficiencies in the language services industry.
Creating the Company
TRANSLIT started as a home-based freelance service translating documents for friends and acquaintances. Initially, the focus was on individual clients, but the realization that business clients offered more revenue led to a strategic pivot. Alex expanded TRANSLIT through networking, government tenders, and acquisitions of smaller language companies. By addressing industry challenges like interpreter shortages and inefficient project management, TRANSLIT developed a centralized platform to streamline operations, saving time and costs for clients and interpreters.
Launching the Business
TRANSLIT's transition from a traditional agency to a SaaS-based platform was a game-changer. Launching the TRANSLIT.com marketplace in 2019 and the TRANSLIT RSI platform in 2021 allowed the company to adapt to remote interpreting needs during the pandemic. Though initial adoption was slow due to lockdowns, remote events and interpreter training programs fueled user growth. TRANSLIT now has over 2,500 users, offering a complete language solution that combines services, technology, and training to meet diverse client needs.
Earnings
TRANSLIT generates $50,000 monthly and has achieved a 95% customer satisfaction rate for five years. Despite challenges in 2020, including a projected financial loss, the company broke even and grew its team from 10 to 15 employees. Diversified revenue streams, including interpreting platforms, training programs, and government contracts, sustain the business. TRANSLIT’s goal is to secure further investments, expand its software offerings, and solidify its position as a leader in the global language services industry.
