About the Company

Visualmodo was established to provide high-quality WordPress themes, plugins, and media solutions. Based in Brazil, Claudio and Jared started the company to serve a global market, identifying the potential of the internet to connect people and businesses. Initially, the focus was on WordPress themes, but the company expanded its portfolio to include plugins and content-related services.

The company operates with a small but efficient team, aiming to simplify web development for users globally. They emphasize accessibility, customization, and comprehensive support, which have been pivotal in establishing their reputation in the market. Visualmodo also provides free resources and tools to foster a strong community and customer trust.

Despite initial hurdles like limited resources and complex Brazilian laws for international earnings, the company has evolved into a reliable provider for clients worldwide. Their target audience includes businesses and developers seeking practical and scalable web solutions.

Idea Behind Company

The inspiration for Visualmodo stemmed from the co-founders' early exposure to technology despite Brazil's limited resources. Challenges like high taxes, costly gadgets, and scarce local tech knowledge spurred their passion for internet-based solutions. Influenced by tech pioneers like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, they aimed to contribute to the digital age by simplifying web creation.

Their first venture was a social media platform targeting Brazil, which faced monetization and hosting issues. While it didn’t succeed, the experience honed their coding and optimization skills. Learning from this failure, they decided to focus on WordPress—a platform with global reach and growing popularity.

Their vision was to build a company that could support the burgeoning internet culture, providing tools for web development and training. This approach helped them anticipate future market trends and align their services accordingly.

Creating the Company

Claudio and Jared began with a coding company called InfiniteGrids, which evolved into Visualmodo in 2010. The early days involved trial and error, especially in adapting their products for mobile use and user-friendly customization.

The founders utilized forums like WordPress.org and platforms like GitHub to refine their products through feedback and testing. They leveraged their growing expertise to design WordPress themes that catered to non-coders and experienced developers alike, eventually expanding into plugin development.

By focusing on simplicity and usability, they made WordPress themes and plugins accessible to a broader audience. Their dedication to problem-solving ensured that their offerings remained relevant and valuable in a rapidly changing digital landscape.

Launching the Business

Launching Visualmodo required significant resourcefulness due to limited funding and Brazil’s business complexities. The founders invested about $5,000, learning skills like logo design and SEO to reduce expenses. Their initial website was a personal domain, later transitioning to a professional platform.

Early marketing efforts targeted social media and online communities to attract clients needing websites. Networking with local businesses and offering discounts for referrals helped build their client base. They also prioritized learning and self-sufficiency, creating all content and marketing materials in-house.

The process took nearly two years, during which they established a strong online presence through design and developer forums. This grassroots approach enabled them to grow steadily and sustainably without external investors.

Earnings

Visualmodo currently generates $30,000 in monthly revenue, with startup costs totaling $10,000. The company employs three people and continues to expand its offerings, including free WordPress themes and plugins like Anzu and Borderless.

Their revenue model includes premium themes and plugins, complemented by a freemium strategy that offers free resources to attract users. This approach has helped them establish a loyal customer base and maintain steady growth.

Future plans include launching a platform for content creators and expanding into areas like news blogs and photo-sharing communities. By continually updating their products and adapting to market trends, Visualmodo remains poised for long-term success.
